Distance won't keep us apart.
Shortly after getting married in October 2013, we began the journey of A Little Long Distance.
Although we grew up in the same town outside of Nashville, we fell in love in 2013 when we began writing to each other while Jessica was living overseas. We were married within only a few months, and the idea for A Little Long Distance bloomed very early on. In fact, we shot our first wedding together for friends while we were road tripping through New England on our honeymoon!
In the summer of 2014 we bought and renovated a pop-up camper and moved to the West coast with our puppy, with the only goal being “become surfers.” We landed in San Luis Obispo, CA, where we made lifelong friends and were humbled by the ocean on a regular basis. This chapter of our newlywed life was the most formative for our business as we were blessed with learning from incredible artists and mentors. Living in 120 sq ft teaches you a lot about marriage, too.
We returned to Tennessee in 2015 with incredible memories and a new appreciation for home. The following year we planted literal roots on a humble 1-acre homestead in our hometown, where we spent the next few years working from home, enjoying time with family, learning to garden and raise poultry, and becoming parents to two little ones (Palmer + Shepherd). Living the simple life and working with our hands made us feel like the richest people on earth.
As our family and business grew, we were pointed to a new direction. The mountains were calling, and in early 2019 we moved to Fort Collins, CO. We enjoyed a brief stay, soaking up adventure and expanding our horizons in life and art and business.
In early 2020, we found ourselves pulled back to middle Tennessee. We bought a humble 100-year-old homestead on a few acres outside of Nashville. We continue to pursue a more sustainable, self-sufficient lifestyle.
We currently work with about 15 couples a year and still travel from coast to coast to document love stories.
